Southern Region celebrates Sis. Moss & other outstanding colleagues

Celebrating a Stalwart!

Last month the Southern Team hosted an Appreciation Ceremony honouring Mrs. Myrel ‘Sis. Moss’ Moss’ for 46 years of distinguished service to the nation’s children.

Sisterson, as she is affectionately called, recently retired as manager from St. Monica’s Children Home where she has served since January 1972. Her girls describe her as teacher, lawyer, doctor, nurse, counsellor, dressmaker, tailor, farmer, contractor, driver, community mother, among other things.

“She instilled in the children have a sense of worth and pride though they were away from their biological families … Sisterson is always proud to showcase ‘her children’ as they are never allowed to feel less than any other children they associated with. Her famous saying is: ‘ nobody nah put down my children.” – Former Ward

Other staff members were also recognized for their dedication and work ethic as Team Leaders and Facility Managers presented Employee of the Year awards to deserving recipients. The awardees were:

  • Karen Rowe – St. Eliizabeth
  •  Kemolyn Frost – Manchester
  • Taneka Cassanova-Durrant
  • Cherida Murray – Manning
  • Tobian Richards – St. Augustine
  • Natrice Lawrence-Francis – Summerfield
