Child Protection Mascot Design and Name Competition
The Agency recently hosted the Child Protection Mascot Design and Name Competition.
The island-wide competition invited children of the primary level to show off their artistic skills by drawing a mascot, displaying front and back of the costume and also creating a name for it. The design was to be unique, original and created by the child that submitted it.
We received 91 entries which were reduced to a battle among the Top 6. The judging panel was comprised of Carlton Sanguinetti; retired lecturer from Edna Manley College, Children’s Officer Ms Carolyn Beckford, CAP Member Malisa Jackson and a sponsor.
The winning entry, and new CPFSA mascot is titled Mr. Protector and was created by Richard Small. Second place went to Danny Defender by Bethany Edwards – Wright and third place to Officer Owl by Kayla Brown.
The mascot is set to roll out in September as part of a campaign in schools to teach children about their rights, child abuse and child protection as we empower children to be self-reporters.
