Guess what … Kids Connect continues!

Due to popular demand and the immense value the feature brings during these unprecedented times, Power 106 FM has decided to continue airing Kids CONNECT.

The radio feature which began during Child Month in May looks at child protection, and generally, all matters affecting children present by CPFSA Officers or guest presenters. Kids Connect is aired on Tuesdays at 3:30 PM during Both Sides of the Story, hosted by Dervan Malcolm.

In response to the increase in child sexual abuse in Clarendon, the Child Protection and Family Services Agency (CPFSA) staged a Child Protection Drive-through in the Havana Heights and Mocho communities in the parish, encouraging citizens to exercise greater care and protection of children.

The initiative saw officers from the CPFSA interacting with over 500 residents, mostly parents and children from both communities. Parents and guardians were provided parenting tips and child protection advice to assist with raising their children and coping during COVID-19 and beyond.

The two communities were targeted as they are labelled hot-spot areas where child abuse is prevalent.

There are plans to visit other communities in the parish in continuation of the intervention.
